Lauryn Hill and H.E.R. at The Hollywood Bowl in Hollywood, CA

GRAMMY Award winners Lauryn Hill and H.E.R. co-headlined the Hollywood Bowl in Hollywood, CA on Oct 16, 2019. This was a special one night only event and was completely sold-out.

H.E.R sang many of her hit songs, wearing her usual sunglasses. She casually alternated between playing multiple guitars, a drum machine and a keyboard, while her two highly-energetic back-up singers/dancers accompanied her on stage, all to the delight of the enthused audience.

Some of the songs H.E.R. performed were “Best Part,” “Hard Place,” “Make It Rain,” “Focus” and “As I Am." In the middle of her performance, H.E.R. welcomed Bob Marley’s grandson, Skip Marley, to the stage and they sang a few tracks together, including Bob Marley’s classic “Turn Your Lights Down Low.”

H.E.R. also mentioned during her set how inspired she has been by Lauryn Hill’s career, and she thanked the singer for paving the way for musicians like her.

This connection between the two artists became clear as Hill took the stage, a little behind schedule, wearing a pale, money green puffy layered dress. Hill performed for the eager audience for a little over an hour.

She performed classics like “Lost Ones,” “Everything Is Everything,” “Superstar,” “Final Hour,” “Forgive Them Father,” “Ex-Factor," “Doo Wop (That Thing),” “Killing Me Softly With His Song” and “Fu-Gee-La.” Hill was also backed by a full band made up of string and horn sections, several guitarists, drummers and even a harpist. She was also supported by three incredible back-up singers.

This was a night about true talent and musicianship. Both uniquely gifted ladies took care of business on the Hollywood Bowl stage—one marking her name in history while the other continues her legacy.
