As the year draws to a close, the music community is getting a timely boost of support. Harper House Music Foundation has announced it will match every donation made to the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund throughout the month of December, dollar for dollar, up to a total of $50,000.
The month-long match arrives at a particularly meaningful time for working musicians and industry professionals who rely on Sweet Relief’s emergency assistance to stay afloat during medical crises and financial emergencies. The organization provides grants for essential needs including medical bills, insurance premiums, prescriptions, housing, utilities, food, and other vital living expenses—often serving as a last line of defense when unexpected hardship strikes.
“Our friends at Harper House Music Foundation have stepped up once again to help us provide a safety net for our music community, and we could not be more grateful for their continued support,” said Aric Steinberg, Executive Director of Sweet Relief. “This end of year campaign is vital to our mission, and this matching gift will have a huge impact on the number of musicians and music industry workers we’re able to help via our emergency financial assistance grants.”
For Harper House, the partnership reflects a shared, long-standing commitment to artist welfare. Founder and President Stephen Sullens noted that their support builds on previous relief efforts, including recent funding tied to Los Angeles fire recovery. “We’ve admired Sweet Relief’s work helping artists for decades, and are excited to expand our recent LA fire relief funding to more programmatic support through our year-end match,” he said. “Incentivizing donations to Sweet Relief as they continue to be such a significant force for good within our music community is core to Harper House Music Foundation's mission.”
Beyond the numbers, the campaign underscores a broader truth across the industry: for all the glamour and success stories, most musicians live without reliable safety nets. Matching campaigns like this not only double the immediate financial impact, but also shine a spotlight on the very real, often invisible needs of working artists behind the scenes.
Donations made anytime in December toward Sweet Relief’s programs will be matched by Harper House until the $50,000 cap is reached, effectively doubling the power of each gift. For supporters looking to make their year-end giving resonate beyond the holidays, the timing couldn’t be more fitting.
