Wolff Audio Releases ProPatch 1.1 with MIDI and UX Upgrades

Wolff Audio may be a young company, but its roots run deep in professional audio. Co-founded in 2023 by renowned gear designer Paul Wolff and Jared Vogt of DCA, Wolff Audio was built on a simple but powerful mission: to merge the uncompromising fidelity of analog gear with the precision and flexibility of digital control. Their flagship product, the ProPatch, is a digitally controlled analog patchbay that’s quickly become a go-to tool for top-tier recording studios and mastering engineers looking for clean signal routing without the hassle of manual repatching.

Now, Wolff Audio is taking the ProPatch even further with the release of Version 1.1—a free software update that introduces major enhancements to both the user experience and professional workflow. Available starting July 10, the update brings a fully redesigned interface, new automation capabilities via MIDI, and more powerful session tools designed to streamline routing and boost studio efficiency.

A statement from the company discloses that the update “dramatically improves workflow efficiency in an intuitive way, making it easier than ever to use your outboard gear like plugins.” That’s no small claim in a landscape where engineers increasingly expect analog gear to integrate seamlessly into digital environments.

Version 1.1 introduces full MIDI automation, giving users a new level of hands-off control. A statement from the company explains that “users can now automate chains, nodes, AB groups, session selection, and global mute functions.” There’s also a new MIDI learn mode, a centralized assignment dialog, and support for shared MIDI assignments—making it possible to control multiple parameters simultaneously with a single input.

The update also brings a visual overhaul of the ProPatch software. A statement from the company notes that it features “a complete visual refresh designed for clarity and intuitive operation,” including relocated stereo channel controls and individual control options for each side of stereo nodes. A new Global Mute function offers instant output protection, and enhanced filtering tools make it easier to locate active signal chains in complex sessions.

In another nod to professional workflows, Snapshots have been renamed Sessions to better reflect common DAW terminology. A statement from the company confirms that this change is part of “expanded menu functionality,” which now includes the ability to lock sessions and work with simplified file extensions (.propatchs for sessions and .propatch for backups). These changes help streamline file management and make system backups more straightforward.

Smaller but meaningful workflow updates include chain tags for improved filtering, new duplicate functions for faster setup, and a renamed “Config” tab that better reflects its role in system configuration. A statement from the company explains that these additions are part of a broader effort to “simplify configuration file management and system backup procedures,” while maintaining the reliability and audio quality that ProPatch is known for.

ProPatch Version 1.1 will be automatically deployed to the Production Channel for all existing users on July 10, 2025, at no cost. For a company still in its early years, Wolff Audio continues to show a clear focus: high-end audio tools that make life easier for professionals—without compromising sound quality.
