SKILLET
After two explosive performances, it was time for the Grammy-nominated headliner Skillet to hit the stage. The Christian hard rockers, hailing from Memphis, TN, are truly ambassadors for the unifying power of music, appealing to all ages, races and religions. The band, composed of husband John Cooper (lead vocals, bass), wife Korey Cooper (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), Seth Morrison (lead guitar) and Jen Ledger (drums, vocals), have been making fist-pumping rock music together since 1996.
Touring in support of their 10th studio album, Unleashed, released on Aug. 5, 2016, via Atlantic Records (debuting at No. 3 on the U.S. Billboard 200), Skillet took the stage with untarnished joy, rocking their newest single, "Feel Invincible" to a loud ovation. Within seconds, the transfixing musicians pulled in the Panheads (The Official Skillet Fanclub) with their uplifting lyrics full of emotional candor that pump and empower.
Skillet delivered their 17-song set with magnetic vocals, pounding beats, tight riffs and thumping bass lines. Included in the set were chart-topping rock songs such as "Whispers in the Dark," "Awake and Alive," "Not Gonna Die" and "Comatose." Skillet closed out the uplifting show with an encore of "The Resistance," reaffirming the empowering connection between a band and its audience.
The power and energy that flowed from the stage that night were nothing short of pure electricity. To see the Unleashed Tour 2017 is to experience talented bands with incredible musicality—a perfect antidote to today's harsh realities.
