The Raver Stories Project book calling submissions

The Raver Stories Project Seeking Stories from Electronic Music Community

5150 Publishing, Inc. has announced a call for submissions to the electronic music community and beyond, for a new book endeavor entitled The Raver Stories Project. Slated to be the first of its kind in North America, the book will consist of stories submitted by fans of electronic music events about their most memorable raving experiences.

5150 CEO Michael Tullberg said, “This is an exciting new venture for 5150, and for the American electronic music world as well. The people in the rave scene are the most important part of this movement, and have also been the most under-represented. It’s their experiences that have always been the backbone of the dance music community, and we want to bring these positive moments to the forefront. We’re doing this in the spirit of ‘90s rave magazine Lotus, which was a much-loved publication by ravers, for ravers. The Raver Stories Project is similar in that it provides partygoers with the opportunity to express their experiences and explain why electronic music is such an important and dynamic part of their lives.”

5150 is looking for a wide range of stories. Adds Tullberg, “It’s not just the big, famous events that we’re interested in. We want to know about personal experiences as well, whether it was a first rave, the party one found their significant other at, the transformative experience of a favorite artist playing an amazing set or even a car breaking down after the gig! It doesn’t matter if the experience happened in a grungy little warehouse, backstage in a VIP Room or inside a massive stadium. The premise is simple: If ravers were there, we want their stories, so the world can see what an incredible culture we belong to.”

The Raver Stories Project is slated to come out sometime in 2017, in both print and e-book form, depending on the volume of contributions. “We’re taking both old-school rave and EDM-era submissions,” said Tullberg. “So if we get a huge number, perhaps we might have to do a pair of volumes about these two dance music generations!”

Currently there's no official deadline yet but 5150 is going to install a pre-Christmas cutoff date in December. At the moment submissions are encouraged to arrive "sooner rather than later," and until they get an excess number of submissions where they can pick and choose what to put in the book, earlier ones will get priority.

Contributors can submit their stories through raverstoriesproject.com, where more details for The Raver Stories Project can be found.
