On Saturday night, rising hard rock band Employee of the Month headlined a show at Bar10, located inside Corbin Bowl on Ventura Boulevard in Los Angeles. The band shared the bill with four other independent acts, including Scissorkiss, Drama Dolls, and Hard Castle.
Playing a hard-hitting set of approximately 40 minutes, the band performed a range of original material that showcased different sides of their sound. Heavier tracks such as “Without Warning” brought plenty of energy to the set with guitar harmonies reminiscent of Iron Maiden, while slower, more melodic songs like “Flowers” offered some contrast. The lead singer noted that the band had recently finished recording “Flowers” in the studio.
The four young musicians, seemingly all in their early to mid-20s, also brought a distinctive visual identity to the performance, dressed in matching workplace-inspired uniforms complete with blue band-logo badges. The concept extends beyond the stage to the band’s social media, where fans are referred to as “employees” and performances as “meetings” that everyone is expected to attend. It’s a memorable theme that gives the group a recognizable identity and adds an entertaining element to their live show without distracting from the music.
Overall, Employee of the Month delivered an energetic set with a clear sense of identity, balancing heavier material with a range of catchy melodies. Their next scheduled “meeting” appears to be at Lucky Strike Hollywood on October 7th.
