Pasadena Playhouse will present the first post-Broadway production of Real Women Have Curves: The Musical, running April 14-May 16, 2027, as part of its 2026-2027 season. Producing Artistic Director Danny Feldman will bring on Obie Award-winner Laurie Woolery to direct the show, based on Josefina López's play, with music and lyrics by Joy Huerta and Benjamin Velez and a book by Lisa Loomer and Nell Benjamin. Set in 1987 Boyle Heights, the musical follows Ana Garcia navigating ambition, family and community. Woolery, returning to her L.A. hometown for the production, describes the project as deeply personal, rooted in her early work with López in East L.A. decades ago. Composer Philip Glass approaches his 90th birthday on January 31, 2027, with a multi-season celebration honoring his legacy alongside the 50th anniversary of Einstein on the Beach, his groundbreaking 1976 opera with the late Bob Wilson. The boundary-pushing work reshaped opera and left its mark across dance, film and theater. Anniversary events include Philip Glass Ensemble concerts starting at BAM, a new staged production from English National Opera and collaborators premiering in Manchester in 2027, and performances in Estonia and Belgium. Hollywood Records released Marvel's Wolverine soundtrack August 28. Its first single "Logan" debuted to enthusiastic crowds at San Diego Comic-Con. Composer David Fleming, known for Widow's Bay, The Last of Us and Superman, scored the track, and the soundtrack arrives in advance of Insomniac Games' upcoming title, an original story following Wolverine as he rejoined Team X to stop Bolivar Trask's campaign against mutants across locations including Canada, Japan and Madripoor. Milan Records released the original soundtrack for 007 First Light, composed by duo The Flight (Joe Henson and Alexis Smith). Written for IO Interactive's new action-adventure game reimagining a young James Bond's origin, the score blends sweeping orchestral arrangements with modern electronic touches, paying tribute to the last six decades of Bond music while forging its own identity. The music evolved alongside Bond's journey toward becoming 007, launching alongside the game on PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S, with a Nintendo Switch 2 release still forthcoming at the time of this writing. Finneas O'Connell was the keynote speaker for The Guild of Music Supervisors’ 12th Annual State of Music in Media Conference, held August 15 at West Los Angeles College.
