Iconic metal singer Udo Dirkschneider of Dirkschneider & the Old Gang, U.D.O., and formerly of Accept, told us about his love for a Deftones classic.
Deftones
Adrenaline (Maverick)

Dirkschneider: My favorite and most important album is definitely the Deftones’ debut Adrenaline. To me, it’s a perfect record — it has heaviness, melodic feels, and so many other vibes. You can feel the entire band’s hunger in each song. Tracks like "Bored," "7 Words," and "Engine No. 9" were always on repeat for me.
I finally got to see them live in 1998, and it made those songs even better. I love Chino’s vocals the most on this record; it was his most brutal and heavy vocal performance. The bass also stands out a lot for me, and Chi has the most killer backup screams. It really became my go-to album growing up, and it still is today. Absolute legends — and this one started it all.
Dirkschneider & the Old Gang's Babylon album and "Dead Man's Hand" single are out now.
