“Objectify me ‘cos it makes you feel powerful, Down on my knees I’ll show you who’s powerful – I’m the one in control,” Australian artist GG Magree exclaims in opening track “Sex,” which sets the tone for an album that celebrates female empowerment, sex-positivity, and the exquisite joy of a quality tune. There are industrial elements mixed in with the synth-pop, resulting in a sound that is as crunchy as it is sweet. Songs such as “Bleed” and “Spit Love” have a BDSM vibe, Magree purring but letting everyone know that she’s in charge. But the lyrics betray a depth that goes far beyond superficial pleasures.
