Independent powerhouse Position Music has teamed with Culture Camp Publishing in a joint venture that brings producer/songwriter RobOnBass into the fold. RobOnBass (real name RobertDeBose) and celebrated producer-mentor Camper share a rich history. Having "first connected while growing up in Atlantic City, New Jersey, playing together in church bands", their roots are both musical and personal. The press release notes that Rob earned a scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston on the strength of his bass artistry—while Camper was busy working with top-tier R&B voices such as H.E.R., Mary J. Blige and John Legend (the H.E.R. self-titled album earned him a GRAMMY). Later, Los Angeles became the meeting ground: Rob relocated there and Camper became his mentor; and into the picture stepped veteran A&R executive Omar Grant, who’s been behind career-defining hits for Rihanna, Mustard, Tainy, Big Sean and more.
RobOnBass’s credits are already stacked: tracks include "All the Way" by Justin Bieber (Swag Vol. II), Ty Dolla $ign’s "Smile Body Pretty Face" (feat. Kodak Black & YG), "Hands" by Alex Isley, and "Gaslight" by Eric Benét & Ari Lennox. He also worked on Camper’s "OOWEE" (feat. Jill Scott & Ty Dolla $ign). The body of work signals a producer-writer versatile across R&B/pop soundscapes.
“The creative energy between all of us feels game-changing,” says Shannon Corsi (on behalf of Position Music) of the new deal. “I’m so proud to champion Rob as he continues to raise the bar for the next generation of producers.”
RobOnBass himself adds: “Since I first met Shannon and the Position team I instantly felt at home. It’s been a unique and refreshing experience dealing with people who value your creativity and push you to be great… I am beyond excited to see what the future holds.”
Omar Grant states: “Rob’s musicality and instincts elevate everything he touches. Camper, the team, and I are excited to have him part of Culture Camp.” Camper caps the messaging: “Position Music possesses the tight knit family Rob’s future requires… We are all in position now. Enjoy the show!”
For Position Music: This JV with Culture Camp enriches its publishing roster with a producer who carries both major-credit experience and artist-musician roots. For Culture Camp Publishing: The alignment with RobOnBass offers him mentorship plus A&R muscle. For RobOnBass: He joins a “family” of sorts built by industry veterans but with a mission to push creative boundaries.
