Izzy Chait entered the music scene in his 50s after a successful career in the antique business. Making up for lost time these past 10 years, the 65-year-old blues, jazz and pop singer brings a weathered wisdom and a lifetime of earnest emotions to his latest set of colorful standards, performed with members of Ray Charles’ last touring band and other guests. He acknowledges the Charles influence with a soulful reading of “America The Beautiful” and draws inspiration on interpretations of songs from across the last century, including a depression era classic, a Bob Dylan medley (which has too much of a Joe Cocker like strain) and well rendered tunes from Leon Russell, Elton John and Hank Williams.
