1500 Sound Academy and YouTube have partnered for a second year to offer 10 full ride scholarships as part of #YouTubeBlack Music Future Insiders Scholarship program for aspiring students to participate in 1500 Sound Academy’s Music & Industry Fundamentals Live Online Program, which offers courses in music production, engineering, songwriting, mixing, music business, and more. The scholarship application is open today through June 24 and applicants can apply here.

1500 Sound Academy, a music education institution based in Inglewood, California headed by Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter producers James Fauntleroy and Larrance “Rance” Dopson; and entrepreneur Twila True, partner together to further YouTube’s support of songwriters and producers.  During the six-month scholarship term which begins on August 2, the Music & Industry Fundamentals Live Online Program will be accessible virtually, and in addition to real time interaction with instructors, students receive supervised lab time designed for student collaboration and mentoring. In addition to the dedicated coursework, scholarship recipients will also learn best practices for growing and engaging their audience on YouTube, and will hear from key industry figures through an intimate monthly conversation series.

Last year’s 1500 Sound Academy #YouTubeBlack Music Future Insiders Scholarship was so successful, that it has former scholarship recipients raving. “What 1500 means to me is foundation, making me grow as a professional, and it has given me so much knowledge.  I’m really grateful,” says Angel B.

“1500 has really changed my life because this is the point where I can really see my dream and I can see everything I’ve been imagining and anticipating for so long,” adds Kyle Brown. “You will meet people that you never had any idea that you would meet.”

Says Fauntleroy: “With the success of last year’s #YouTubeBlack Music Future Insiders Scholarship program at 1500 Sound Academy, we are so excited to unite again with YouTube to help 10 more aspiring musicians and music industry professionals achieve their goals in their pursuit of learning about the music industry and having the opportunity to get the full scope of what it means to be in the music business.”

Adds Jenna Rubenstein, Songwriter Relations Lead, YouTube: “We are so proud of the meaningful work we've done so far with 1500 Sound Academy. Extending this partnership alongside the #YouTubeBlack Voices Fund will only strengthen our collective commitment to empowering the next generation of music creatives and executives. We've already seen the tremendous impact of James and Rance's one of a kind program, and we are honored to support this next class of students."
