Ian Reed: It seems simple and almost anticlimactic to choose a simple overdrive pedal for a piece of gear that I cannot live without but this pedal is truly the heart of Stetson’s sound.
I got my pedal board stolen about 10 years ago and just needed an overdrive pedal as quickly as possible. I went to Trading Musician and just randomly selected The Dude. It’s been on my board ever since and has pretty much never been turned off.It has a great clear, glassy and biting tone but I think the function that kept it on my board for so long is its bias function: which allows me to dial in the perfect amount of grit without having to crank the pedal or my amp. It’s been on my board for 10 years and I have a feeling it’ll be there for 10 more.
