Kaitee Carney fronts her spirited, expert band with a husky, sassy attitude. “My Forget About You On” (“You pissed me off enough!”) features some whiplash slide-guitar licks. The high energy continues with “‘76,” where Carney digs her man’s vintage ride above all others (“Take me here, take me there, with the wind through my hair”). The sound shifts to an amped-acoustic setup for “While I’m Still Young,” where she aches to flee her “suffocating town.” Carney’s songs are hooky and relatable, especially to a young audience. Plus, each of these songs has a vivid, visual element that suggests film/TV possibilities. Our only suggestion is that she push herself vocally to add more color and dimension.
