Performing rights organization BMI recently played host to “Las Compositoras+,” a three-day songwriting retreat in which attendees could collaborate creatively and produce new work in a safe environment. The song camp is a product of BMI’s commitment to uplifting the voices of its songwriters and championing diverse perspectives in Mexican music.
According to BMI’s Associate Director, Creative, Latin, Lilibeth Patron, “ The Las Compositoras+ song camp is about fostering collaboration, supporting our songwriters and building a creative community.” “Together,” she continued in a press release, “with the support of our sponsors, we were able to provide a platform and create a unique experience for female songwriters and creators in the LGBTQ+ community in música Mexicana.”
