Album Review: Wovenwar - Self-Titled

wovenwarWovenwar plugs the hole in my chest where Tim Lambesis ripped out my double-bass beating heart, but no matter how much you lay asphalt over a sink hole, it’s only a matter of time before we’re all doomed. Here we find former As I Lay Dying members Jordan Macino, Phil Sgrosso, Nick Hipa and Josh Gilbert working with Oh, Sleeper’s Shane Blay and, quite frankly, the album is fantastic. Side-story drama aside, Metal Blade fans find a new breed of metal-core: Audible bass guitar with mainstream vocal melodies supported by thrash rhythms and guitar leads. Kudos, fellas, for not calling it quits on the sound, while still turning a new leaf. – Andy Mesecher
