Stanley Jordan Gives Back In Haiti With the Help of Casio, Daisy Rock

Picture 41-2_0Fresh off of his “Artist at Large” appearance at the Gathering of the Vibes festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and six-show, three-night appearance at the Catalina Bar & Grill on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood, famed jazz fusion guitarist Stanley Jordan will be performing a concert and leading a workshop at Port-au-Prince’s historic Hotel Oloffson in Haiti, August 13 and 14.  Schools and organizations participating in the guitar workshop include L’Ecole Ste Trinite, Ecole Nationale des Arts, the Haiti Jazz Foundation, and FOKAL, or the Foundation for Knowledge and Liberty.

Stanley Jordan will be working with Direct Relief Haiti and donating a Casio WK-75000 keyboard, as well as a Daisy Rock Junior Miss Acoustic guitar in Bubble Gum Pink, to two deserving young women.  Mr. Jordan is excited to be working with two companies that share the same vision and attitude toward helping young musicians around the world.

"Casio is honored to align with organizations and individuals like Stanley Jordan to make a difference in the lives of young musicians and further enrich music education as a whole. It is up to manufacturers to foster musical minds and help musicians achieve their goals. Studies have shown that the piano is the gateway instrument, as it teaches music theory and enhances cognitive development, therefore we at Casio want to be involved in the process," stated Stephen Schmidt, Vice President of Casio's Musical Instruments Division.

While Daisy Rock says in their mission statement, “Daisy Rock’s ongoing mission is to provide females of all ages with whatever it takes to learn to play guitar and enjoy music.”
