Tristan Tritt grew up backstage, where the smells of “cigarettes and diesel,” the thump of a kick drum through a PA, and life aboard a tour bus were simply part of childhood. The son of country star Travis Tritt, he could have followed the obvious musical path. Instead, the Georgia-born singer-songwriter found his calling in rock and roll’s rawness and rebellion.

Black Sabbath provided the revelation. Hearing “War Pigs” as a kid sent Tritt down a rabbit hole of rock records stretching back to the ’60s and eventually toward a sound of his own—Southern rock, country, Americana, and modern alternative, filtered through an artist who has little interest in chasing trends. “I’m way more into playing the long game,” he says, “and trying to have something that sticks around long after I’m gone.”
That philosophy drives his new single, “Living the Dream,” a hard-hitting reflection on working people struggling to make ends meet and on a country increasingly focused on what divides us. Tritt knows hard work firsthand: before launching his career, he worked at car washes, in landscaping and construction, and spent long days as a production assistant. Yet the song isn’t defeatist. At its core is Tritt’s belief that people still deserve the opportunity to work toward something better—and that music can help bring them together.
For Tritt, living the dream isn’t measured by a tour bus, a chart position, or crowd size. “Just being able to pursue what you love and do it to the best of your ability—that’s living the dream,” he says. His advice is equally simple: “It’s worth taking the shot, and it’s not something you want to sit back and say, ‘What if?’”
