Vinyl Minded, Gift Guide Edition Vol. 1

It's the Holiday season, so we're taking the opportunity to let you in on some awesome recent vinyl releases. Treat yourself (or a loved one).

Freddie Mercury

Mr. Bad Guy (Hollywood Records)

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury's Mr. Bad Guy solo debut album, Hollywood has reissued it on heavyweight 180 gram, green vinyl.

“They’re all love ballads and things to do with sadness, torture and pain” Mercury said in an interview at the time. “At the same time, it’s frivolous and tongue-in-cheek. That’s basically my whole nature, I guess.”

The title track, "There must Be More to Life Than This," and "Made in Heaven" are highlights on a gorgeous time capsule.

Ultravox

The Collection (Chrysalis)

A double LP packed with English new-wave icons Ultravox's best-known tunes, The Collection is the greatest hits album that you probably didn't know you needed.

"Dancing With Tears in My Eyes," "All Stood Still," and "Vienna" are highlights on an album spilling over with them. There's also a CD and a box set version.

Music From the Original Motion Picture Jaws (Geffen/Universal)

Composed and conducted by John Williams

The 50th anniversary of Jaws, one of the greatest movies in the history of movies, has been greeted with all manner of releases and events.

This new release of the genius score by John Williams is one of the best. The music is, of course, majestic. Mood-building, brooding and sinister, it's up there with Williams' best work (and that bar is high). But the vinyl, which actually contains water, is unbelievable.

"Brand-new stereo mixes of the soundtrack album are now available  on all digital partners, and a 'Shark Infested' Water-Filled collectible numbered edition LP with these new mixes is also available now via UMe," a statement reads. "The perfect collector’s item for film and vinyl buffs alike, this release has real water sealed and pressed between two translucent vinyl discs."
