Capitol Records is currently looking for a lawyer based in Hollywood to support their Capitol Music Group’s Business and Legal Affairs team, who will report to the SVP of Business and Legal Affairs. In this role you will: Structure, draft and negotiate agreements for all facets of label operations, including artist recording agreements, joint ventures, distribution agreements, creative/content production agreements, brand sponsorships. Provide advice and coordinate strategy on general corporate transactions and commercial agreements. Work with the financial department to prepare, review and analyze profit and loss and sales analysis. Advise various Capitol departments (e.g., A&R, Marketing, Production, Creative and Finance) regarding contractual obligations and restrictions in various commercial agreements. Address concerns and propose solutions while balancing legal considerations with business objectives. Analyze and assess potential risks and propose recommended courses of action. Respond to requests for information and/or advice from other business units, including contract research and analysis. Obtain all necessary management approvals on key terms of commercial agreements. Manage critical external relationships with key representatives of a recording artist’s team.
