SoundExchange Highlights 'Black History Moments'

In honor of Black History Month, SoundExchange has launched a series of “Black History Moments,” video capsules featuring music creators, managers, business executives and others within the SoundExchange community recognizing the historic contributions of Black heroes.

Most recently, comedian/actor Tiffany Haddish lets us know about Maggie L. Walker who was the first African-American woman to charter a bank and serve as its president in the United States.  The clip can viewed HERE.

Everything kicked off early this month with Columbia Records Head of Urban Music, Phylicia Fant who talked about the contributions of Cicely Tyson (LINK HERE), MC Lyte also dropped a video that recognized Harriet Tubman (LINK HERE).

Other clips in the series have included singer/songwriter/producer Eric Roberson discussing the impact of Shirley Chisholm and Chicago-born rapper Add-2 who recognized musical icon and activist Stevie Wonder.

The video series will run throughout the month of February and additional Black creators are expected to be added to the series.
