The Shelters and Kaleo at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA

Los Angeles-based rockers The Shelters had a warm welcomed when they opened for blues/rock band Kaleo at the Wiltern in Los Angeles on Aug. 26. The band breezed through their set, playing with confidence and enthusiasm. The band is currently touring with Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, and it seems they've learn quite of few lessons from them. The band set the crowd roaring with applause when they performed their fun rock and roll tunes like "rebel heart" and "Liar."  The band has the confidence of old school rockers and rebellious songs that appeal to the younger generations. It's only a matter of time before the Shelters start headlining their own show.

Darkness roamed once Kaleo hit the stage. Nothing illuminated the singer but a few lights shining across the stage. All that anyone could enjoy was hearing frontman JJ Julius Son's powerhouse vocals. The Icelandic rockers truly shined with their musicianship and interesting song mix of blues, rock and a bit of folk. The Icelandic band even did a small homage to their home country by singing  "Vor í Vaglaskógi" in their native tongue.
