Well, this is very personal. Empty Angelo describes himself online as, “A Los Angeles native who fled to St. Louis in hopes of building a relationship with his absent father, David Paul. After five wonderful months, Paul passes away under mysterious circumstances after a successful spine operation.” If that feels like it’s a lot to process for the listener, imagine what it must be like for the artist. As often happens, Empty Angelo decided to use his music as a form of therapy and it’s resulted in some deeply honest, evocative and heartbreaking indie rock.
