Hailing from the Pacific Northwest, this prolific singer-songwriter (4 albums so far) specializes in music that is proudly simple, straightforward, and sometimes even raw, as in the anti-war protest number “Rich Man’s War, Poor Man’s Fight” which, with its harmonica solos, takes inspiration from protest singers of yore to deliver a message that is still timely today. “Welcome to the World, Little One” is a gentle, optimistic tune intended for a newborn. The artist’s best, “You Should Be Ashamed,” is a jaunty, uptempo outing with a child-like “organ” solo that fits perfectly with Moritz’s overall rudimentary, unadorned approach to music-making, right down to his voice, which would give Kermit the Frog a run for his money.
