What an incredible holiday season to wrap the decade! NBC hosted its annual 'Christmas In Rockefeller Center' special earlier last month. The live television broadcast marked the 87th year for the annual Christmas tree lighting, where thousands gather year-round to celebrate the momentous occasion around the ice rink in Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. In addition to the iconic tradition, those in attendance who braved the winter weather were treated to a plethora of performances from Chicago, Brett Eldredge, Derek & Julianne Hough, John Legend, Idina Menzel, Lea Michele, Gwen Stefani, and more!
This year's tree was a Norway Spruce from Florida (Orange County), New York, standing at 77 ft. tall. It weighed about 12 tons and was around 70-75 years old. In keeping with tradition, it was garbed with 50,000 multi-colored LEDs and topped with a radiant Swarovski crystal star. The spruce was lit by New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio, respectively. Those who wish to see the tree lit in all its glory can do so until Jan. 17, 2020.
