Anthony Green has returned to the group he paved the post-hardcore path with in 2003, Saosin. Along the Shadow features familiar tones, but with a maturity in songwriting—something scenesters will either grow to admire or instantly reject. The album’s opener, “The Silver String,” perfectly encompasses what listeners can expect throughout: heavy rhythm guitar below harmonic leads, A.D.D. drumming and a dual threat of throat screaming slash syrupy clean vocals from Green. Though marketed as “Saosin Featuring Anthony Green,” this is Saosin in its purest form in well over “7 Years.”
