Diane Warren and Allan Rich Named to HMMA Advisory Board and Voting Academy Member

Celebrating a decade of exceptional success, achievement and growth, The Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA) has announced the induction of songwriters Diane Warren and Allan Rich to the HMMA Advisory Board and Voting Academy. The acclaimed songsmiths join an elite and diverse group of entertainment professionals that include music artists/producers Verdine White (Earth, Wind & Fire), Dave Mason (Traffic), Nile Rodgers(Chic), Adam Gaynor (Matchbox 20) and award-winning film composers John Debney (The Greatest Showman, Passion of the Christ.) and Christopher Young (Pet Sematary, Hellraiser).

Held in November, the HMMA awards historically have been over 80% accurate in awarding future recipients of iconic film, TV and videogame awards. For example in film: the 2018 HMMA award winners included “Shallow” (A STAR IS BORN) which later won the 2019 Oscar, Golden Globe and Grammy. Also winning a 2018 HMMA award were Ludwig Goransson for his score to BLACK PANTHER, which also won the 2019 Oscar and Grammy. At the 2017 HMMA event, Alexandre Desplat won Best Original Score for THE SHAPE OF WATER) then won the 2018 Golden Globe and Oscar. 2016’s HMMA Best Song winner “City of Stars” (LA LA LAND) won the 2017 Golden Globe and Oscar.

Diane Warren is a ten-time Oscar-nominated, Grammy and Golden Globe-winning songwriter. One of the most prolific and successful contemporary songwriters of our time. She is the sole owner of her publishing company, Realsongs. Three-time HMMA winner for “I’ll Fight” (from RBG documentary), “Stand Up For Something” (from MARSHALL) and “Til it Happens to You” (THE HUNTING GROUND documentary).

Allan Rich is a two-time Oscar, Grammy, and Golden Globe-nominated songwriter. He has co-written hit songs for Natalie Cole, “I Live For Your Love,” James Ingram’s #1 pop hit “I Don’t Have The Heart,” Whitney Houston’s “Run To You” from the 45 million-selling THE BODYGUARD movie soundtrack and much more.

The HMMA is the only award organization that recognizes specifically the music (SONG and SCORE) in all forms of visual media. Nominations are reviewed and chosen by a committee, HMMA producers and an advisory board which includes veteran musicians, composers, journalists, publishers, music executives and other industry professionals including select members affiliated with the EMMYS, GRAMMYS, OSCARS, GOLDEN GLOBES, SONGWRITERS HALL OF FAME, SOCIETY OF COMPOSERS & LYRICISTS, GUILD OF MUSIC SUPERVISORS, and performing rights organizations. With over 500 submissions per year, HMMA nominees are selected in specific genres and sub-genres of music for film, TV and video games including dramatic feature, sci-fi/ fantasy, documentary, and animation.
