Burning Ambulance Music
Producer: Wadada Leo Smith
Smith remains one of the jazz world’s most potent voices, and he’s still active at the ripe age of 84. This excursion offers four distinct ensembles showcasing the additional talents of Marcus Gilmore, Melvin Gibbs, Bill Laswell, Pheeroan akLaff, and more.
The variety pays dividends, from “Dark Energy,” a Miles-like travelogue of the mind, to the atmospheric muck of “Deep Canyons On Mars.” Only hip cats will dig the vibes.
