As BMG’s SVP, Business & Legal Affairs—Publishing, Kris Muñoz is also known as “The Closer” or “Klutch” to her colleagues and industry folks she has dealt with during her standout career in the music industry. Post-law school, Muñoz spent her early years at top boutique entertainment law firms. A well-respected and well-liked executive and a savvy deal maker, Muñoz came to BMG in 2011 via BMG’s acquisition of Bug Music, where she had spent seven years. She quickly rose up the ranks as an executive at Bug, then at BMG, amidst an ever-changing landscape and is a key player at BMG which has seen record growth and unprecedented success for a company that is a mere fourteen years old. She serves in a hybrid A&R role, a rarity at most companies, having personally signed 28 writers/artists to Bug, then BMG, that have recouped and/or reupped their deals—a sign of a trusted executive. She is responsible for handling a myriad of aspects of BMG’s needs, including contract drafting, negotiation, acquisitions, due diligence and analysis, talent acquisition, A&R, and business development.

Heidy Vaquerano | Partner, Fox Rothschild LLP
A partner in the Los Angeles office of Fox Rothschild LLP, Heidy Vaquerano provides strategic advice and representation on a wide variety of intellectual property and transactional matters to clients in the music, technology and entertainment industries. Clients rely on Heidy to review, negotiate and enforce agreements covering music publishing and recording, live tours and merchandising as well as NFTs, web3, metaverse and software licensing along with a full range of other critical business matters. David Weitzman is a partner at Primary Wave. His role is to source iconic and legendary catalog acquisitions, working closely with CEO, Larry Mestel and (as he phrases it) “the experienced, highly capable, tight-knit Primary Wave team.” There, he has successfully sourced acquisitions with the Estate of Joey Ramone, Julian Casablancas of The Strokes, the Estates of Layne Staley and Mike Starr of Alice in Chains, Huey Lewis and the News, Thievery Corporation, AWOLNATION, and many more. Weitzman has been working in music-related fields since 1994, during which the industry experienced tremendous change. However, he effectively navigated his career to fit the quickly changing landscape. Prior to Primary Wave, he was with ole Media Management (which became Anthem Entertainment), where he sourced over $280 million in successful acquisitions. For the 10 years before ole, Weitzman was a music supervisor for many music-driven popular TV series, domestic and international commercials, and indie films. In his early years, he worked for several record labels in creative positions, including in A&R and as a creative content acquisition executive at digital music distributor, Emusic.com.
