Book Review: Ready Steady Go!

This is everything a tribute tome should be. Lots of visuals for the lookyloos, and plenty of substance for those who dig deeper. The London-based Ready, Steady, Go! debuted in August of ‘63 and became an essential TV ritual for the newly confident Brit teenager. Told in oral history style, with plenty of insights from performers (Mick Jagger, Pete Townshend, Ray Davies, Eric Burdon, Donovan, Andrew Oldham, Lulu) and presenters (Vicki Wickham, director Michael Lindsay-Hogg), and with a profusion of color and black and white photos, the book also includes a detailed guide to all 173 episodes. RSG! weighs a ton and is worth every ounce.
