BMI Names Randall McMillan Vice President, Business Affairs, Creative & Licensing

Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) has announced that Randall McMillan has been named to the newly created position of Vice President, Business Affairs, Creative & Licensing. Reporting to Mike Steinberg, Executive Vice President, Creative & Licensing, McMillan will be based in BMI’s New York office.

In his role, McMillan will lead a team of business affairs executives across BMI’s Creative and Licensing divisions. He will be a key member of BMI’s negotiating team for major industry licenses and will also work closely with BMI’s Creative teams on songwriter and composer affiliations. In addition, McMillan will liaise with BMI’s Legal department on many fronts, including rate court matters.

McMillan joins BMI from Pandora Media, where he held the role of Senior Corporate Counsel. In that position, he worked closely with the industry relations, content creation and licensing teams in negotiating and drafting talent and content acquisition deals, in addition to serving as counsel and copyright advisor on all matters relating to music, artists and events. Prior to his position at Pandora, he was founder and President of McMillan Law, PLLC, where he counseled clients on a broad range of commercial transactions, including music, satellite radio, licensing and sponsorship agreements. McMillan also spent almost two decades in various roles of increasing responsibility at Universal Music Group/Def Jam Records and RCA Music Group/BMG Entertainment. In these capacities, he worked closely with creative and marketing executives and gained a strong expertise in intellectual property rights and music licensing.

McMillan earned his JD from Boston College Law School and BA from Cornell University.
