Blue Élan Records is revving up the holiday spirit with Yet Another Holiday Livestream featuring performances by label artists SOUL ASYLUM, CHELSEA WILLIAMS, CAR ASTOR, MUSTANGS OF THE WEST, AMY WILCOX, ROAN YELLOWTHORN and BOB GENTRY. The holiday stream will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 15 at 5pm PT / 8pm ET on YouTube, as well as the labels’ other social channels.
The stream is aimed at getting everyone into a festive holiday spirit but is also set to benefit
#SaveOurStages, an initiative aimed at preventing independent venues from closing permanently. Independent venues have given our artists their start. Independent venues were the first to close and will be the last to reopen. With zero revenue and the overwhelming overhead of rent, mortgage, utilities, taxes and insurance, 90% of independent venues report that if the shutdown lasts another six months without federal assistance, they will never reopen again.
Fans can support independent music by making a direct donation here to support independent venues or they can also send a letter to their local congressperson or senator here.
In other Blue Élan holiday news, several labelmates, as well as the Blue Élan family, all joined together last year to record three new holiday tunes, available now. Poco-founder Rusty Young, a master of the pedal steel guitar, puts his own spin on the instrumental take on a medley of Christmas with “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas'' along with “Jingle Bells” and “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas” while Mid-west rock band, Red Wanting Blue, chose to cover the 1992 Tom Petty penned holiday classic, “Christmas All Over Again” and various members of the Blue Élan Family took a turn at covering “Glorious”.
