Jeff Beck is one of the great rock ‘n’ roll guitarists, up there with the likes of Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page. It’s slightly surprising, therefore, to see De Capo Publishing bill this book as, “first biography to fully capture the life, music, and mystery of this singular artist.” These authors previously penned a book about another guitar god—Eddie Van Halen—so they’re well placed to put the riffs into words. The book is exhaustive, taking us through Beck’s early years, The Yardbirds, and the stardom that came later. By the end we feel like we know the relatively elusive icon a little better.
