Bloodshot Records has announced the signing of the Chicago songwriter and banjoist/guitarist, Al Scorch. Scorch’s second full-length album, and label debut, will be released in the spring of 2016.

Scorch has played many shows opening for acts such as Screaming Females and Saintseneca as well as sharing the stage with heavy-hitting songwriters a la Chuck Ragan (Hot Water Music) and Jim Adkins (Jimmy Eat World). He can also hold his own on bills with progressive wizards like Danny Barnes and Peter Rowan.

Scorch balances wedges of punk, old0time string band, American and European folk and soulful balladry in his music and lyrics. There are elements of bluegrass and country throughout, at times evinced by his breakneck clawhammer banjo technique and poignant acoustic guitar takes.
