From It’s premiere in 2009 and finale in 2013, Big Time Rush was one of Nickelodeon's top shows. The show featured boy band Big Time Rush, comprised of its four members: Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Carlos PenaVega, and Logan Henderson. Just three years ago, Big Time Rush was at the YouTube Theater, the following year they played the Forum, and Tuesday night (8/26), they had a sold out show at the new home of the Los Angeles Clippers, the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, CA.
What’s extra special about this tour is that the group is performing every single song from the series (38 total) and their openers are Stephen Glickman who played Gustavo in the show and Katelyn Tarver who played Jo Taylor.
Before the group took the stage, the opening theme and video from the TV show played. Glickman joined in on piano, surrounded by the group, for four songs: “Like Nobody’s Around,” “Cover Girl,” “You’re Not Alone,” and “All Over Again.” Each member was featured during the opening numbers. Backing Big Time Rush is guitarist/musical director Cody Perrin, bassist Vicky Warwick, and drummer Greg Garman.
The show had everything a fan would want, all the hits, the choreography, video segments, and wardrobe. Four lucky fans were brought onstage, each with a member of the group singing to them. There was also a B stage where they performed in the back of the floor for “Crazy for U,” “Untouchable,” and “No Idea”—which were all acoustic. The group walked to the B stage through the audience and back to the stage the same way. They were joined by surprise guest Jordin Sparks (who also appeared in the show) for a performance of “Count On You." Following “Confetti Falling," the group left the stage and returned with an encore of “Til I Forget About You,” and “Boyfriend.” Between the outfits and how many people knew the words to every song, it was easy to see how many dedicated fans there were.
In 2023, Big Time Rush released their first album in 10 years, Another Life. Since the TV series ended, this is their sixth tour, and they have played not only North America, but also the U.K. Europe, Australia, and Asia, showing their immense popularity to this day.
