Nick Mason at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA

After nearly 25 years, Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason returned to the stage last year for a European/UK tour of the band’s masterful album "Saucerful of Secrets". Mason decided to tour on his own after waiting years for the three surviving members of Pink Floyd to perform together again. Once David Gilmour and Roger Waters gave Mason the green light, Mason began his plans to tour.

Mason brought the "Saucerful of Secrets" tour to North America last month, which began in Vancouver on March 3rd, and he recently played two shows at the Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA, March 16th and 17th.  With a band which consists of guitarists Gary Kemp (also vocals) and Lee Harris, keyboardist Dom Beken and bassist/vocalist Guy Pratt, Mason performed music off Pink Floyd’s first seven albums including “Vegetable Man,” “One of These Days,” and “Point me at the Sky.”

"Saucerful of Secrets" was the band’s second album, and it also signaled the end of Syd Barrett’s time with Pink Floyd.  This, however, ushered in David Gilmour’s entrance who, with founding members Roger Waters (bass/vocals), Richard Wright (keys) and Mason (drums), continued to tour and release albums until 1985 when Waters left the band.

Mason, Wright and Gilmour toured as Pink Floyd two more times, but disbanded after their 1994 The Division Bell tour.  The original members came back, however, for Live 8 in 2005 just before Barrett’s death in 2006 and two years before Wright’s death.  The three surviving members last performed together at the O2 Arena stop of Roger Waters’ Wall tour in 2011 for the song “Outside the Wall”, which is the final track off Pink Floyds “The Wall” album.

The North American leg of the "Saucerful of Secrets" tour concludes on April 22nd in Washington D.C.
