D'Addario Invites Students on Stage

The D'Addario Foundation has announced Sound Check, a new initiative that invites music students in the Foundation's partner programs to interact with world-class performers on stage. This new program for young musicians invites students to a musician's sound check that takes place before a scheduled performance. Students have the opportunity to ask questions, watch the artists rehearse and in some cases perform on stage with them. Up to 30 students are invited to attend across multiple local programs funded by the Foundation. The D'Addario Foundation is a non-profit organization primarily funded by D'Addario, the maker of instrument strings and based in Long Island, NY.

The Sound Check program launched with Los Lobos recently at New York's City Winery venue with over 20 students attending, and the Nashville edition of the program took place with Buddy & Jim (Buddy Miller & Jim Lauderdale) earlier this month at the Nashville City Winery location.

The D'Addario Foundation has also announced that they are a benefactor of the Music of David Bowie Tribute concerts taking place at Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall. These concerts are the latest installment in impresario Michael Dorf of City Winery's respected tribute concert series, with 100% of the net proceeds going to music education programs for underprivileged youth.
