“Did you know Tame Impala is just one guy?” It’s one of the internet’s favorite copypasta, but the meme is more than just that; It conveys the genuine wonder of all that Kevin Parker can do.
The Australian artist began his psychedelic pop project under the name Tame Impala in 2007, utilizing the then-popular MySpace. He quickly gained international success, earning a GRAMMY nomination for Best Alternative Music Album in 2012 and winning two GRAMMYs in 2025 and 2026 for Best Dance/Electronic Recording. Most recently, his single “Loser” was featured on the official soundtrack of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and a remix of “Dracula” became his first song to reach the Top 10 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. With such buzz around Tame Impala, it is no surprise that he was able to sell two consecutive nights at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
Fans have nicknamed the Deadbeat Tour “Djame Impala” thanks to the inclusion of Djo as a tour opener. The crowd brought massive energy for Djo’s set, to the point where it almost didn’t feel like a supporting act. Could the vibes get any higher?
The answer: Yes. When Tame Impala took to the stage with “Apocalypse Dreams,” Bridgestone erupted. Lasers and lights constantly moved around the stage, immersing the crowd in an entire experience. Many fans even came prepared with sunglasses to wear as they danced in the glow during hits like “Borderline” and “Feels Like We Only Go Backwards.” Even bathroom breaks have a bit of showmanship to them at a Tame Impala show. As Kevin walked backstage to take care of business, the camera followed and eventually showed an encounter with Spider-Man himself. This transitioned the evening into a brief B-Stage set.
On the small second stage, Kevin sat down and played with the synths. He then allowed himself to lay back on the pillows to perform "Ethereal Connection” and “Not My World,” as if he was just messing around on the living room floor. House lamps lining the stage set the mood and created a uniquely intimate aside. Without the assistance of the band, fans caught a small glimpse into what the studio process may be like, as all Tame Impala songs are written, produced, performed, and recorded primarily by Kevin.
Back on the main stage, we kicked it back into full gear with songs like “Let It Happen” and “New Person, Same Old Mistakes.” An encore consisted of hit songs “Dracula,” “The Less I Know The Better,” and “End of Summer.”
