At just 17 years old, singer-songwriter Naomi Jane is entering a new chapter—one defined less by chasing trends and more by trusting her own artistic instincts.
On The Jeremiah Show, Naomi discussed the creative journey behind her forthcoming debut full-length album, Kinda Sorta Country, due October 9. While the record introduces country influences into her signature storytelling, Naomi says the biggest transformation wasn't musical—it was personal.
"I didn't write these songs to fit an algorithm," she explains. "I genuinely wrote them for myself." That philosophy runs throughout the album, which explores love, heartbreak, identity, and growing up, all without sacrificing her authenticity.
One of the album's standout tracks, “Clementines," was inspired by a surprisingly simple childhood memory. Naomi recalls her father peeling clementines for her, a small act of kindness that became the foundation for one of her most touching love songs. Since its release, listeners have embraced the song, sharing their own everyday gestures of love on social media.

The album also reflects Naomi's willingness to transform difficult experiences into creative fuel. Her single "Pumpkin Eater,” inspired by a painful breakup, avoids bitterness in favor of empowerment. Rather than writing a heartbreak ballad, she chose to create something playful, confident, and ultimately healing.
Produced by Adam Zelkind and featuring collaborations with Nashville songwriter Joey Hyde and acclaimed musicians including Glen Phillips, Greg Leisz, Jimmy Mattingly, Theo Haber, Tyson Motsenbocker, and Greg Holden, Kinda Sorta Country balances polished musicianship with deeply personal storytelling.
"I'm not chasing anymore. I'm choosing,” says Naomi.
It’s a remarkably mature perspective—and one that suggests Naomi Jane's greatest songs may still be ahead of her.
