Jason Mraz

Jason Mraz at the Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara, CA

The last show of Jason Mraz’s ‘Good Vibes’ tour was performed at the Santa Barbara Bowl in Santa Barbara, CA on Sept. 15a great venue, a great town and a beautiful night. It was a pleasure to experience some light and positive energy, to see Jason’s love for his audience and the world, and his reminder of the good things in life.  He came out on stage before the show in shorts and a short sleeve shirt, talking about how much we all need love in this world, the sold-out crowd embraced him with open arms.

The energy of Jason Mraz’s “Superband” took the stage. The show quickly turned into a high-octane fest. The musicians were a combination of the four female members of the band “Raining Jane” and Jason’s longtime basic touring band. Raining Jane consists of: Mai Bloomfield on guitar, cello, and vocals; Chaska Potter on guitar, mandolin, vox, and vocals; Mona Tavakoll on percussion, drums, and vocals; Becky Gebhardt on bass, guitar, and sitar. Add Toca Rivera on percussion, Andre Santana on bass, Eric Hinojosa on keyboards, and Michael Leroy Bram on drums and you’ve got one of the best touring bands this summer….yes I said sitar..very cool, so many great sounds on stage.

The dress of the band was like a rainbow with pastel colors and they moved and performed in harmony as in a rainbow. Their cover of Aretha Franklins, ‘I Say a Little Prayer’ and ‘Respect’ was perfect for the evening.

Brett Dennen opened up for Jason Mraz. Bret Dennen is a Central California native so he was back home.  With his bright red hair and great style of music he was a perfect match for Jason. Who doesn’t love an inviting and optimistic artist like Brett Dennen? Brett Denney’s presence alone makes it hard to avoid his contagious positivity. His sweet, soft, voice mixed with passionate songwriting makes for irresistible music that we just can’t help but love.
