From Legendary Studio Manager to Trusted Music Consultant: Few executives in the recording industry have earned the trust, respect, and enduring relationships that Paula Salvatore cultivated during more than three decades guiding Capitol Studios and later serving as Vice President of Client Relations and Studio Marketing for Universal Music Group. Since leaving the corporate world a few years ago, she has transformed those decades of experience into a new mission with Paula Salvatore Music Consultants Inc. Drawing on a career that also included managing the legendary Sound City Studios and working alongside everyone from Paul McCartney, Tony Bennett, and Barbra Streisand to Frank Sinatra, James Taylor, and countless producers, engineers, and composers, she now helps artists, studios, and creative organizations navigate projects with the same care, discretion, and personal attention she brought to those earlier experiences. In her 30+ years at Capitol, she also worked with legendary engineer Al Schmitt and was instrumental in getting Schmitt his Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Connecting People, Projects, and Possibilities: Since launching her consulting company, Paula Salvatore Music Consultants Inc., in 2024, Salvatore has expanded her influence across an impressive range of music and film initiatives. She consults on studio launches, including the Les Paul Recording Studios, Hollywood and Bentley House Studios, N.Y.C., along with recording projects and industry events, helping connect artists, producers, and engineers with the right facilities and creative teams. Her current work includes consulting for Jordan Grand Songbook Media and the Musicians’ Enduring Legacy Organization (MELO), along with the prestigious MELO Awards, where famed drummer Harold Jones was just recently honored in New York City at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Apell room. MELO’s mission is to celebrate overlooked musical pioneers and they currently have a documentary honoring legendary drummer Earl Palmer in production. She is also consulting for the Los Angeles Film & Recording School, (LARS), promoting educational programs, and inspiring students and graduates with studio tours and visits from guest speakers from the music and film community. Salvatore is involved in numerous music establishments, including The Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL), the Guild of Music Supervisors, AES, NAMM, P & E Wing, and Pacific Jazz Orchestra (PJO), and is a recipient of the She Rocks “Legend” Award. She continues to collaborate with acclaimed artists, producers, and engineers on a variety of recording projects. Over the years, she has developed a strong reputation as a trusted liaison for musicians, engineers, and producers. Salvatore especially enjoys helping younger artists and industry newcomers understand the recording process while encouraging meaningful human interaction in an increasingly digital business.
Keeping the Human Element Alive: Throughout every chapter of her remarkable career, Salvatore has remained convinced that successful recording is built as much on empathy as expertise. While she embraces innovations ranging from Dolby Atmos to modern production workflows, she believes genuine communication, collaboration, and mutual respect remain the industry’s most valuable assets. Today she enjoys the freedom to choose projects that inspire her, mentor the next generation, and preserve the stories behind some of music’s greatest creative achievements. “I spent over 30 years helping other people create unforgettable moments,” she says. “Now I have an opportunity to help shape new ones, tell important stories, and hopefully inspire young women and future music professionals to realize there’s a place for them in this business. The technology will keep evolving, but the human connection should never disappear.”
