Sophie's Body Can't Do Without Their TC Hall of Fame Pedal, Epiphone Wiltshire, and More

The four members of bubble-grunge rockers Sophie's Body each told us about the gear that makes them tick...

Sophie: Oh 100% my TC Hall of Fame. I have tried to go without it, and life is simply not the same without the opportunity to turn the shimmer switch on. Seriously, before this pedal appeared in my life, the reverb situation was GRIM to say the least. You should have seen the implosion I had when it broke on me right before we were about to go on tour… That incident was actually the impetus for our recent single “Long Term Loaner”– I had to pitch a freakin fit at the Guitar Center to convince them to let me borrow a pedal for the road. I have a new Hall of Fame now, but for some reason the mono output doesn’t work, just the stereo. The shimmer makes it all worth it though, thanks TC.

Dylan: My fav piece of gear is my pair of construction headphones I have that are way too big but block out all the sound.

Adam: For me it has to be my Epiphone Wiltshire. I saved up my hardware store earnings to buy it when I was 15. I spent the better part of a year modding it and making it an absolute rock machine. When I joined Sophie’s Body I was playing a different guitar, one that sounded boring. It was a “professional” guitar with “professional” pickups so it should’ve been perfect; but something was missing. I was visiting my parents house one winter when I caught a glimpse of my old faithful Wilshire hanging in the corner. I can’t explain it, but I knew it was time to bring it back into action. We had one rehearsal and from that point on, it was my one and only performance guitar. We have done gigs from Jacksonville to Montreal and that bad boy has been at every one. After years of abuse, a small crack formed where the neck meets the body. I know that eventually, I will accidentally snap the thing in two during our song “Indigo,” but I think that would be an honorable and fitting death for such a storied guitar.

Harry: My favorite piece of gear has to be my Boss Super Octave OC-3!

It’s honestly my most used and versatile pedal that I have for most performances. Having a sub octave is amazing and Boss has the pedal that made the sound popular in the first place (the OC-2). My favorite part of the set is when I get to use it for the our song LASH.

The debut album from Sophie's Body, Zero, is out October 30.
