When the Sex Pistols broke up in 1978 after just three years together, frontman John Lydon went on to form the band Public Image Ltd. In celebration of Public Image Ltd’s 40th anniversary, the documentary The Public Image is Rotten was released and the band played a special tour to commemorate the release of the film and their 40 year history. PiL played a total of 19 shows on their North American tour with a stop at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood, CA on Nov. 3. Only two shows followed this one. PiL’s lineup consist of Rotten who has been the only founding and member to remain in the group, drummer Bruce Smith, guitarist Lu Edmonds and newest bassist Scott Firth. PiL played a 16-song set including “Deeper Water,” “Rise,” “Public Image” and “Shoom.” It was quite an honor seeing one of Punk’s most iconic and notorious singers.
