Canadian indie folk artist Julie Arsenault says, on her online bio, that she's "Canada’s best kept secret." Fair enough. Her touching, poignant and devastatingly honest odes to "depression, social awkwardness and sexism" have the knack of reaching down through your ears and toying with your heart. Her songs were, she says, "recorded during a couple of chilly Canadian winter days." Despite this, Arsenault injects no small amount of warmth and compassion into her musical journalistic entries.
