Tracks by this Ohio-based artist are consistently dark, mechanized and otherworldly—call them dispatches from the depths of hell. The reality they seem to describe is a deep, dark dungeon from which escape is unlikely. The artist’s heavily fx’d vocals, his esoteric and referential lyrics,  are prominent, and on “A Dazed Witness,” for example, it’s hard not to be reminded of classic British doomsters such as Bauhaus and, in its occasional dancier moments, such as the song “Faith In Sabotage,” Depeche Mode. Overall, though, the sound of Absinthe Vows is sad, echoing music that haunts the listener and maintains a thick, dark atmosphere from start to finish. As such, we’re thinking that film or TV placements would be ideal.
