Mark Ronson Performs "I'm Just Ken" at BMI GRAMMY Event

BMI (Broadcast Music, Inc.) invited some of the industry’s biggest talents to its Los Angeles office for a gathering celebrating its family of 2024 GRAMMY nominees on Wednesday, January 31st. The event saw BMI songwriters, composers, producers, and other music creators nominated across multiple categories including Songwriter of the Year, Non-Classical, Producer of the Year, Non-Classical, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best R&B Song, Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media and several others come together to toast these great achievements. 

Celebrated BMI songwriters Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, accompanied by Matt Sweeney on rhythm guitar and backing vocals, performed an acoustic rendition of their Best Song Written for Visual Media hit “I’m Just Ken [From Barbie: The Album] to a packed room of their peers. In addition to its GRAMMY nod, the song, performed by actor Ryan Gosling in the film, has received additional nominations from the Golden Globe Awards, Society of Composers & Lyricists Awards, the Academy Awards and several others. In January, “I’m Just Ken” won Best Song at the 29th Critics’ Choice Awards.

Other GRAMMY nominated attendees included Edgar Barrera, "Weird Al" Yankovic, BMI Icon Ana Bárbara, Jean and Marcus Baylor of The Baylor Project, Lupita Infante, Rob Bisel, Juan Winans and more. The evening was capped off by BMI’s EVP, Chief Revenue & Creative Officer Mike Steinberg, commending BMI’s amazing roster of incomparable talent and wishing them the very best of luck at Sunday’s big GRAMMY ceremony.
