KROQ Absolut Almost Acoustic Christmas 2019 - Night Two Recap

For KROQ Absolut Almost Acoustic Christmas 2019, Night Two was the most anticipated night. It not only sold-out in minutes making it impossible for people to buy tickets last-minute, but it also featured bands people go crazy for including The 1975 and Twenty One Pilots.

Complete Lineup: Mumford & Sons, Twenty One Pilots, The 1975, The Raconteurs, Of Monsters and Men, The Interrupters, lovelytheband, Matt Maeson, and KROQ's DJ Jeremiah Red.

The night began with a set by up-and-coming pop-folk singer Matt Maeson—who currently holds the No. 1 song on the Alternative Songs airplay chart with "Cringe." LA Locals lovelytheband had the fans in the pit singing to each one of their catchy songs including “Make You Feel Pretty” and "Broken." The band even covered My Chemical Romance's “Teenagers.” Lovelytheband has grown since last year's show. They seem more confident with their performance and fed off the crowd's insane energy. Speaking of being energetic, the LA-based punk-ska quartet The Interrupters was one of the best bands of the night. They never disappoint with their fun music and crazy antics. They also surprised fans with a great cover of Billie Eilish’s “bad guy.”

As the night progressed, the acts got better and better. Of Monsters and Men delighted fans with an array of old and new hits including "Alligator,” “Mountain Sound,” “Wars” and “Little Talks,” while The Raconteurs delighted the older rock-loving crowd with songs from their new album Help Us Stranger and classics like "Salute Your Solution.”

English pop-rock band The 1975 drew the most screams from the women in the crowd. Just like their live shows, the band's set was filled with bold neon lights and fun backup dancers. Matt Healy's confidence was through the roof as the frontman grooved through melodic singles like “People,” “The Sound” and “Give Yourself a Try.”

Mumford & Sons have been in the music game for a long time and know how to give a rousing performance. The band got the entire venue to sing along to singles including "Guiding Light," "The Wolf" and "Delta."

Twenty One Pilots ended the entire event with a superb performance. Fans who missed out on seeing them on tour this year were treated to a mini-tour performance. They brought their signature staples including their car that's engulfed in flames and the drum set they place into the crowd. The band performed fan-favorites including “The Hype,” “Ride," “Chlorine” and “Car Radio."
