KAABOO Del Mar 2018 proved that it has successfully shifted the festival paradigm by celebrating its 4th annual event held Sept. 14-16 in Del Mar, California with a sellout. “Reaching a full sell-out was a major milestone for us at KAABOO,” said Jason Felts, the festival’s Chief Brand, and Marketing Officer, in a statement released Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018.
Making its debut four years ago at the Del Mar Racetrack and adjacent fairgrounds, this year’s three-day mixperience captured a top-tier lineup of world-class musicians such as Foo Fighters, Imagine Dragons, Katy Perry, and Robert Plant & The Sensational Space Shifters.
Among the other dozens of acts featured on multi-genre musical roster were Incubus, Halsey, Post Malone, Gucci Mane, Blondie, N.E.R.D., Earth, Wind & Fire, Billy Idol, CAKE, Big Boi, Wiz Khalifa, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, Jewel, Stone Temple Pilots, Melissa Etheridge, Everclear, War, Tower Of Power, and The Zombies.
Consistently assembling artists that satisfy today's multi-generational fan base, KAABOO's lineup enables even the most casual music fan to walk around and hear songs they love; songs that transcend a particular time and place.
Highlights from the weekend include Post Malone’s tribute to the late Mac Miller; soul and funk legends Tower of Power’s celebration of their 50th anniversary; N.E.R.D frontman Pharrell Williams jumping into the crowd to start a massive dance party; and Imagine Dragon’s homage to the LGBTQ community.
KAABOO was also the closeout tour stop for several artists such as Seattle rockers Alice in Chains (who just concluded an extensive US run of dates); Halsey (who will soon be working on her new album); and pop superstar Katy Perry who just spent the last year traveling the world on her "Witness: The Tour”.
Building on the success of the last three years, the beachside extravaganza continued its unique spin on what typifies as a music festival. “This year’s KAABOO Del Mar was our biggest event to date,” continued Felts. "We provided a feast for all senses with savory treats in PALATE, live mural paintings set against beautiful blue Southern California skies, and a variety of massages from INDULGENCES to grooving in the Las Vegas-style BASK pool (presented by MGM Grand’s Wet Republic) with Big Boi and Earth, Wind & Fire.
HUMOR ME, KAABOO's in-door and air-conditioned comedy venue, was unceasingly packed with thousands of fans to experience kings and queens of comedy like Craig Ferguson, Tom Papa, Nikki Glaser, Erik Griffin, J.F. Harris, Iliza Shlesinger, Craig Robinson, Whitney Cummings, Louie Anderson, Orny Adams, Judd Apatow & Friends, Kevin Nealon, and Pauly Shore.
Those unable to attend KAABOO in person were able to watch and listen to performances at the festival live-streamed through Stingray Qello, KAABOO’s exclusive streaming partner for the festival. The stream featured 30 performances which included Imagine Dragons, Katy Perry, Robert Plant, Halsey, and Post Malone. Free-of-charge, the performances could be viewed on Smart TVs, tablets, smartphones, media players, and game consoles.
KAABOO Fan Ambassadors will be able to indulge in two brand new events in 2019. On February 15-16, 2019, KAABOO will expand internationally into the Cayman Islands with a festival site overlooking the world famous Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman; and in AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX, home of world-famous NFL Dallas Cowboys on May 10-12, 2019 at KAABOO Texas. “Selling out this year’s KAABOO Del Mar is an exciting way to embark into our inaugural expansions with KAABOO Cayman and KAABOO Texas," Felts said.
