John Mayer

John Mayer at The Forum in Los Angeles, CA

The Forum was packed for John Mayer's second sold-out show at the legendary Forum in Los Angeles, CA. Mayer and his 9-piece band opened the night with a high energy performance of "Helpless" from the record The Search for Everything. Drawing from his debut album, Room for Squares, Mayer then let his fans experience a unique acoustic performance of "Neon," with an impressive guitar solo that emulated a stand-up bass.

The first half of the show flowed seamlessly, with little banter from the Grammy-award winning artist, who is known for his talkative antics on his IGTV show, Current Mood. After a brief intermission, an image of the Continuum album cover appeared on the venue's screen. It was clear the crowd was in for a unique treat: a start-to-finish performance of the entire 2006 release. Mayer had only performed the record in its entirety once before, at Madison Square Garden, in July of this year.

The guitar virtuoso showed off the talent in his band by spreading solos around throughout the night, showcasing band-members' individual strengths as musicians. Guitar player David Ryan Harris opened "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" with a riff on the song's melody and an incredible falsetto performance that stunned the crowd.

The night ended with a roar of applause, drawing Mayer and the band back for a 2-song encore of his newest hits, "Carry Me Away" and "New Light."

Catch Mayer on this unique no-opener world tour through October.
