Immortal Technique, who is revered as one of the world's most respected street poets/emcees of all time, stopped by the Regent in Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) for his Middle Passage tour.
Labeled as the "Bin Laden" rapper, Tech shared the stage with his label mates Chino XL and Poison Pen. Tech performed some new music off his unreleased album and also brought out classics like "Dance With The Devil," "Creation and Destruction," "Rich Man's World," "Harlem Streets," among others. Tech continues to garner underground respect because of his viewpoints and lyrics that surround the topics of socio-economics, politics, justice, and racism.
Being in attendance reminded me of what a gritty, raw hip-hop should feel like. The ambiance was dimly lighted, clouds of weed smoke filled the air, and thought-provoking music pumped loudly from every speaker.
